Then one day my parents walked into my room and with hushed and nervous tones, they started to explain everything.
As my mother was talking to me, I felt an overwhelming sense of sadness.
This does not mean that it will not affect their lives in any way but the effect may not be dealt with easily and with little guidance. Children at the age between 5 and 8 are not likely to understand what a divorce is.
They never feel secure anymore and their minds get disturbed a lot.
During this time, disciplining the child may only make things worse.
For those at the age of 9 to 15, they understand what a divorce.
Often they express their disappointment and some even take sides.
