Nsf Archaeology Dissertation Funding Requirements Business Plan
EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY This program provides educational opportunities for Graduate Students.
Individuals interested in applying for funding should see the program guidelines above.
If I submit a proposal what is the probability it will be funded?
Success rates (# awards / # submissions) are determined by the Program’s annual budget and the number of proposals received.
The Program frequently funds researchers with non-Anthropology degrees and it actively encourages such individuals to apply.
The Program provides support for technique development and ancillary studies often proposed by non-archaeologists and does not limit its scope by either time period or geographical region. The NSF recognizes that innovative research often lies at or between traditional disciplinary boundaries and encourages interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research.
Successful applicants however must convincingly demonstrate that their research is significant from an anthropological perspective and that it addresses questions of interest to anthropological archaeologists. A potential applicant should contact a relevant program Director and discuss their particular project. Unaffiliated researchers may submit proposals directly to NSF.
Although one needs to consider carefully which mechanism is most appropriate in a specific case, none are cumbersome and all are regularly employed. Thus the Program often provides doctoral dissertation support to foreign nationals enrolled in U. The Archaeology Panel meets twice yearly, usually in late October or early November and again in conjunction with the Society for American Archaeology meeting in the Spring.(PAPPG) (NSF 19-1), is effective for proposals submitted, or due, on or after February 25, 2019.Please be advised that, depending on the specified due date, the guidelines contained in NSF 19-1 may apply to proposals submitted in response to this funding opportunity. For those Archaeology competitions with target dates, there is no need to inform the Program Director if a proposal will be a week or two late. Although a definitive answer may not be available, by this time the likely outcome for most applications will be clear. If the delay will be significantly more, please contact to make certain it can still be included in the pending review cycle. Dissertation and high risk proposals receive outside review only and are evaluated on a case by case basis. The Program contributes to the integration of education and basic research through support of dissertation projects conducted by doctoral students enrolled in U. Dissertation research projects in all of the subareas of biological anthropology are eligible for support through these grants. These awards are intended to enhance and improve the conduct of dissertation research by doctoral students who are pursuing research in biological anthropology that enhances basic scientific knowledge. In October 2018, NSF implemented the Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance (DMARC) email changes required by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to improve email security. Some email routing practices (such as auto-forwarding to personal email accounts and sending messages through third-party providers) may cause messages to be flagged as potentially fraudulent by DMARC security checks and blocked.Available Formats: HTML | PDF | TXT Document Type: Program Announcements & Information.View Program Page Document Number: nsf15554Document History: Posted: March 6, 2015.
